victory a historic event, not just for the African Union, but also for the world, adding
that he expects a new focus on Africa".
"Mr. Obama will become the 44th President of the USA when he assumes office in January
2009. He won a convincing victory in the elections held on 4 November".
"At the reception, Mr. Ping announced that he had sent a letter of congratulations to the
President elect soon after the results were confirmed and that a statement for the media had also been issued, on the same day".
