05.09.2009."Rihanna has become involved in a naked photo scandal after a series of raunchy shots allegedly showing the singer were posted on the internet. The six self-taken images have appeared online just days after topless pictures of R'n'B starlet Cassie Ventura were leaked on the net".
"One of the revealing photos shows a scantily-clad woman, resembling Rihanna, in front of a mirror scrawled with the message: 'I love you, Robyn. I miss you". The Barbados-born singer's real name is Robyn Fenty".
"Rihanna's face is clearly visible in the clothed images, but cannot be seen in the naked pictures.Rihanna, 21, can only be clearly seen in two of the photos, in which she is fully clothed".
"However the woman's face is not visible in the naked pictures, leading to doubt over the authenticity of the pictures". Another picture shows a man who bares a striking resemblance to Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Chris Brown with a pair of pink knickers on his head".
"The Umbrella star's record company, Island Def Jam Records, are said to have asked at least one website to remove the photos, calling them "unauthorized photos purported to be, Rihanna".
"According to gossip site TMZ, the record company has called the photos a violation of 'the artist's rights', but have not denied or confirmed if the pictures are authentic. Rihanna herself has not released a statement about the pictures".
"The scandal comes as her 20-year-old ex Brown faces felony charges relating to an alleged assault on Rihanna earlier this year. The Run It singer pleaded not guilty to charges of assault likely to cause great bodily injury and making criminal threats in a LA court last month".
"If convicted, Brown could be sentenced to probation or nearly five years in prison. Brown's attorney Mark Geragos is seeking police records to try to find out who leaked information about the alleged beating of Rihanna".
"One picture shows a man who looks like Chris Brown with a pair of pink knickers on his head".
"In a motion filed on Wednesday, Geragos has asked for the files of a police investigation into the leaking of a photo of a bruised and battered Rihanna that was leaked to celebrity gossip Web site TMZ. He believes a Los Angeles Police Department officer sold the photo to the website".
"Geragos wrote: "The purpose of the leak was necessarily for profit and to vilify Mr Brown and poison the potential jury pool". He added that it was seen by 'hundreds of thousands of viewers' and remains on TMZ".
"Brown's squeaky-clean image has been damaged by the case, with radio stations boycotting his music, fellow artists criticising him, and Brown withdrawing himself from several high-profile events, including the Grammy Awards".
