"Anti-government protesters hold a banner atop a burned out building in Benghazi. The graffiti in Arabic reads 'No to the East, no to the West.' Take our Poll Libya next? Do you think Mommar Khadafy's rule will end with the massive protests in Libya?".

"CON ESTOS PROBLEMAS EN MEDIO ORIENTE,

SERÁ EL SUICIDIO DE OCCIDENTE".

"Tripoli was burning Monday as the six-day old revolt against ruthless ruler Col. Moammar Khadafy reached the Libyan capital".

"Protesters torched government buildings and attacked police stations after a long night of clashes with Khadafy's cutthroat henchmen that left more than a dozen pro-democracy demonstrators reportedly dead".

"Running street fights between protesters and the secret police continued through the morning while worried Libyans stocked up at gas stations and grocery stores and braced for a long siege".

"Meanwhile, British foreign secretary William Hague told Reuters that Khadafy fled Libya and "may be on his way to Venezuela."The Venezuelans, however, told the British news service that it "denies such information".

"Earlier, a pair of Libyan helicopters followed by two Air Force jets mysteriously landed in Malta - fueling speculation that Khadafy was losing control of his military. Also, Al Jazeera reported that the Libyan ambassadors to the United Kingdom and Indonesia joined the growing exodus of Khadafy-appointed diplomats who resigned rather than serve the regime".

"On Sunday, Khadafy's son Seif vowed that his father would "fight until the last man, the last woman, the last bullet."On Monday, wary U.S., officials said they were reviewing Seif al-Islam's speech and that President Barack Obama was "considering all appropriate actions" on Libya".

"Just as in Egypt and Tunisia, where long-standing despots were toppled by a popular revolt, the U.S. does not want to be seen as directing the revolt in Libya - even though Khadafy is hardly an American ally".

"Nevertheless, Libya's eccentric dictator appeared to be in serious jeopardy as the rebellion moved into the capital a day after pro-democracy demonstrators took control of Libya's second-largest city".

"There were also unconfirmed reports that the police had fled from the coastal city of Sirte, which is Khadafy's hometown".

"Benghazi fell to the rebels after an epic two-day battle in which soldiers - and mercenaries Khadafy flew in - strafed protesters with machine guns and anti-aircraft artillery".

"It failed to stop the revolution and by nightfall the military compound was captured and many Libyan soldiers defected to the pro-democracy side".

"Hundreds reportedly died in the most brutal crackdown yet of the Arab Spring - a series of uprisings this year that have taken down despots in Tunisia and Egypt and threaten to do the same in Yemen, Bahrain and elsewhere".

"That fact that Khadafy's son - not Khadafy himself - went on TV Sunday to rally supporters emboldened those bent on liberating Libya. Seif al-Islam insisted reports of mass deaths were exaggerated, but admitted "mistakes by the army" in shooting protesters".

"Rambling like his erratic father, he blamed the unrest on labor unions, Islamic groups, illegal immigrants, drug addicts and the media. Libya is not Egypt or Tunisia," he said repeatedly. "Moammar Khadafy is not Mubarak".

"He told Libyans that booting his 68-year-old father - the Arab world's longest surviving leader - would mean 40 years of civil war, mass starvation and an invasion by Americans and Europeans intent on capturing Libya's oil".

"There will be rivers of blood all over Libya," he warned, promising reforms and a new constitution if the demonstrations end".

"His speech echoed the dire warnings of chaos made by Egyptian President "Hosni Mubarak" before he was ousted by street demonstrations two weeks ago".
