"It was a poor and pathetic show by the leading national players. Though it was not a fixed match but for me there was nothing in it other than disappointment. This seems to be a training session", said a spectator Nadir, after watching the 30-minute fixture at the Mushaf Squash Complex".
"Aamir claimed an easy win against the underdog Farhan winning it 3-0. The top-ranked national player, Aamir started the game in an aggressive nod, gaining three quick points. Farhan opened his account on the digital scoreboard when Aamir hit the 17-inch tin, taking the score 3-1".
"The scoreboard moved in favour of Aamir and the score reached 7-5. A good long rally huddled Farhan out of pressure to 7-6. But the luck was siding with Aamir as he clinched the first game 11-8".
"The second session was more depressing, at least for the followers of the game, as the visibly shaky Farhan was not reaching the ball in an athletic manner. He played some sloppy shots which busted him out of the second game 11-3".
"Before start of the last game, both the players were profusely sweating and were seemingly exhausted. During the third game Aamir cruised to the match points in electrical mode, taking points 5-1, 6-3, 8-6, 9-7, 10-7, 11-8".
"The winner told Dawn: "I didn’t give any chance to Farhan. I played some fast shots and was playing with full energy".
"Besides the championship trophy, Aamir was given a cash prize of Rs95,000 while Farhan got Rs60,000".
"Meanwhile, in the girls’ event, Maria Toor of Wapda lifted the trophy defeating Muqaddas Ashraf of the same department 11-3, 11-6, 11-9. Maria got a prize purse of US$380 while Muqaddas was handed over US$260".
